Oliva's Arrabbiata
Oliva Tarantino was 11 years old when World War II began and her father was conscripted into the Royal Italian Army. Keeper her sister alive by hiding in mountain convents, she traded with local soldiers for food as her father was captured and imprisoned.
When the allies liberated Ancona she came down and traded pasta sauce for candy from the advancing army. The Allies, having fought all over the world, brought spicier ingredients to the region and the Arrabbiata was born out of local Italian ingenuity. Oliva immigrated to the U.S. in 1946 and brought this unique sauce with her.
Served best with spicier meats, this sauce will bring zest to any dish without an overpowering heat. Every jar of Oliva's Arrabbiata is a homemade meal from my family to yours! Buon Appetito, Paisan!
